Three habits that make you understood

-요

End with 요

Korean changes its endings with politeness. Every phrase here ends in -요 or -니다, the polite forms — safe with shop staff, drivers and strangers of any age.

이거 주세요

Point and say 주세요

주세요 means “please give me.” Point at anything — a menu photo, a snack, a ticket — and say 이거 주세요. It is the single most useful frame in the language.

가요? ↗

Raise your tone to ask

Many questions look exactly like statements. 가요 is “(it) goes”; 가요? with a rising tone is “does it go?” — no extra words needed.

How to read the pronunciation

Korean is spelled the way words are built, not always the way they sound. When letters meet, sounds shift: 감사합니다 is spelled with ㅂ but said [감사함니다], gam-sa-ham-ni-da. On every card, the part in [ brackets ] shows the real pronunciation in Hangul, and the romanization follows the sound, not the spelling. Learning the letters and how syllables stack makes the brackets click instantly.
